Custom Work:  Call us.  Our equipment operators are well trained and Surface Mine Certified.   Scappoose Sand and Gravel has been serving Columbia County and the surrounding area for over 75 years.  We have the knowledge, equipment and desire to address any of your needs, whether it is to provide you with the items needed for your largest project or rock your parking lot.  We have Excavators; Dozers; Loaders; 35 Ton Off Highway Haulers; Portable Jaw Crusher and Portable Screening Plant to do all of your projects.

Scappoose Sand and Gravel:  We’re here to help you with any project you have.  Look through our web-site, come out to see us and make your idea a reality.

Additional Landscaping Ideas:  When decorating your landscape, add your own personal touch. We have all types of yard ornaments, flagstone style stepping stones, boulders and numerous other items.  One of the easiest and most basic landscaping ideas is to create contrasts and variation in color.  When you pair rich burgundy-purple with chartreuse, the color hues seem to become brighter and the purple tones seem to become richer and darker. Together the colors can be much more effective than when used alone.  This coupled with one of our Bubblers on Fountains would be a beautiful addition to your design.  A well designed landscape can also improve the curb appeal of your home and inspire other people in the neighborhood to turn their own yards into inspiring landscapes.

Recycled Crushed Concrete & Recycled Crushed Asphalt

Recycled Crushed Concrete & Recycled Crushed Asphalt

Recycled Crushed Concrete: Will it become a mainstream substitute as sustainable construction grows more prevalent?
Crushing waste concrete to make aggregate for new concrete is increasing in popularity for several reasons:
• Owners want projects to be sustainable and LEED certified. Recycled concrete qualifies for recycled material credits, and because it is usually found locally, it qualifies for local credits;
• Concrete with recycled concrete aggregate has a smaller carbon footprint;
• Crushing waste concrete to produce new aggregate takes less energy than mining precious aggregate reserves;
• Using recycled concrete in place of rock makes good sense. (Excerpts taken from internet article “Concrete Construction”)

Recycled Crushed Asphalt is America’s No. 1 recycled product in a report to Congress. It continues to be reclaimed and reused at a greater rate than any other product in the U.S. A wide range of waste materials are now incorporated into asphalt pavements, including ground tire rubber, glass, foundry sand, and slag, but the most widely used are reclaimed asphalt pavement (RAP) and recycled asphalt shingles (RAS). The use of recycled materials in asphalt pavements saves hundreds of millions of cubic yards of landfill space each year.

Barkdust / Soil Amendments / Sand

BARKDUST  / SOIL AMENDMENTS / SAND

Barkdust performs at least 3 basic functions:
1. Reduces soil water losses;
2. Suppresses weeds;
3. Protects against temperature extremes.

Barkdust, Soil Amendments, and Sand:  In one study comparing various mulch materials with bare soil, soil moisture percentages in mulched plots were approximately twice as high, summer soil temperatures were reduced by 8 to 13 degrees, and the average amount of time required to remove weeds was reduced by two-thirds.
